The team layer
Food-safety certificates are state law, not house preference — and they differ for the owner, the cook and the server standing next to them. Tick your team; get the rule for each person, the deadline and whether a certified manager has to be in the building.
Two different credentials get confused constantly. A food handler card is the short course for line staff — where a state mandates it, everyone who touches food needs one, usually inside the first weeks of work. A Certified Food Protection Manager (CFPM) is the deeper exam for the person in charge — some states want one per building, Texas wants one present during all open hours. We never sell you either card; accredited providers do. We tell you exactly who needs what, so an inspector never tells you first. Your state's full certificate layer sits inside its permit page.
